General Instructions for Treatment of Trees
Drill holes 12-18" deep using an earth auger (2-4" diameter) or narrow trenching shovel and fill with Establish according to the following guidelines:
A. Newly Planted Trees
- 24-36" Boxed Trees:
- Drill 3 holes equally spaced in a circle just outside the rootball in the backfill area, and 5 additional holes equally spaced in a circle 12-18" further out.
- 45-54" Boxed Trees:
- Drill 4 holes equally spaced in the backfill area, and 7 holes equally spaced in a circle 24" further out.
- 60-70" Boxed Trees:
- Drill 3 holes equally spaced into the rootball, 5 holes equally spaced in a circle in the backfill area, and two small rows of holes 24" apart at an additional 5' and 7' out from the tree trunk.

B. Established Trees
- 1-3" trunk diameter:
- 3-5 holes in a circle 3' from trunk.
- 4-6" trunk diameter:
- 2 rows of holes 4' and 6' from trunk.

C. Larger Trees
- Holes 2' apart in a circle just inside dripline of the tree.

D. Specimen Tree
- Drill holes 3-4' apart in a circle just inside dripline of the tree.
Note: Nutrients or irrigation should not be used on oak trees within 4' of the trunk.
